What you do in PréLire stays on your device.

What we collect: only what you choose to share

PréLire has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. By default it sends nothing.

Anonymous usage counts, if you agree. After your first lesson, PréLire asks whether you want to share anonymous counts; you can change your answer at any time in Settings › Privacy. If you agree, the app sends: that it was used on a given day after you installed it (day 0, 1, 2, 7, 14, 30 or 60, each at most once); that you finished the vocabulary check (with your estimated vocabulary in coarse steps, such as "about 1500 words"), a lesson or a chapter (with the book and chapter number and your two languages); that you added a book of your own (its language only); and, if you answer it, what you would pay for PréLire. It sends no account, no device or advertising identifier, no name, and nothing you read or type.

Book requests and interest, when you send them. If you request a book or tap "I want this" for lessons on your own books, the app sends the title you chose or typed and your two languages, and nothing else.

On our server each count is stored with its date only (no time of day). Your IP address is used only to limit requests and is never stored; there are no access logs. The counts are used only to improve PréLire and are never sold or shared.

What stays on your device

Your languages, your vocabulary check, the words you learn and review, your progress through each book, your daily goal and your settings are saved on your device only. Deleting the app deletes them.

Books you add

When you add your own book (PDF, EPUB or text), PréLire reads and analyses it on your device. The book is not uploaded.

Read aloud

Read aloud uses the voices installed on your device.

This website

This website keeps no access logs and sets no cookies.

Changes

If PréLire ever collects anything else, this page will say what, why and how to turn it off, before that version is released.
